Stari Grad (Old Town)

Stari Grad (Old Town) is older than Hvar Town and is one of the oldest towns in Europe. Greek colony (Pharos) was founded here in 385 BC and is a fine example of Greek urban development. The streets intersected at right angles and the city was protected by fortifications. Traces of the Greek plan can still be seen in the fields around Stari Grad.
